Why Texas Holdem?

Posted on 29 June 2009 by Steve

There are many different types of poker, but one is King. Those massive tournaments with all the Rocky-rivalling-rags-to-riches stories are nearly always good ol’ No-Limit Texas Holdem. It’s also the game you see on the poker TV channels. In short, it’s the game you need to know.

For a start, Texas Holdem is pretty much the simplest version of poker. (What that says about Texas is open to debate, but don’t be fooled – Texans are usually damn’ fine players.) Like all the best games it can be learned in an hour – and although there ain’t no substitute for experience and natural talent, it certainly helps the beginner if you don’t need a rulebook open all the time.

Texas Holdem (No-Limit) also has more players, more tournaments and (crucially) more money involved than all the other forms of poker put together. But is it the most popular because it’s the most lucrative – or the most lucrative because it’s the most popular? After much research we can tell you the answer is, “Who cares? It’s where the big money is. Now deal ‘em, cowboy…”

As for Pot-Limit, it’s basically Texas Holdem Lite. With no shoving your entire stack of chips in (unless it’s very small), there’s not as much bluffing, bullying and general mayhem as in No-Limit. No-Limit separates the men from the boys – although the girls are just as likely to beat them both, of course.

So there you have it. No-Limit Texas Holdem should be the first game you learn, practise and hopefully conquer. Once you’re comfortable at the tables, check out the subtle nuances of Omaha, or seven-card Stud, or Razz. Even try some Pot-Limit poker if you’re feeling particularly gentle one evening.

In the wild west of NL Texas Holdem though, the sky is your limit – all you have to do is learn to fly. It takes time, but the rewards can be life-changing. Be patient and remember Bill Hicks’ famous advice to hippies everywhere, “If you think you can fly, don’t be an idiot and jump off a skyscraper. Try taking off from the ground first…”

Wimbledon 2009 | Betting Odds Still Favour Federer But Murray Not Far Behind

Posted on 29 June 2009 by Steve

Roger Federer is still the hot favourite to win Wimbledon 2009 according to the latest betting odds but Andy Murray is still well capable of causing a minor upset by defeating him in the final. Matches are still being played and the 4th round is now in play.

Federer Looks Good For Sixth Title

The best price that Roger Federer can be backed at currently is 4/7 with Bet365. Federer has looked impressive so far but so he should given the calibre of opposition he has faced. He won Wimbledon five times in a row before being defeated by Rafael Nadal in the final last year. With no Nadal in the tournament this year it is no wonder he is such a short price.

73 Years Of Hurt For British Fans

Andy Murray is hoping to be the first British champion in 73 years and according to the odds he has a great chance. He is currently the second favourite to emerge as Wimbledon champion and he can be backed at 15/8 with Bet365.

Murray Should Reach The Final At Least

The most likely final is Federer v Murray, but there are a lot of facters still to play out. Robin Soderling vs Roger Federer are still to play out the 4th round match at 1pm today, with Federer at 1/25 and Soderling at 9/1 theres still some good odds to be had.

Check out the full list the latest prices

Free Online Casino Craps | It’s all about the Dice!

Posted on 26 June 2009 by Steve

The online casino concept has become a gigantic hit world over, thanks to their wide variety of games that allow you to play for free as well as win cash or enter an online casino tournament.  Playing in an online casino can maximize your winnings and improve your playing skill and strategy as you will be up against both seasoned and novice players and also will be sometimes be playing against a player from another country.

Free Online Casino Craps – The Game

Free online casino craps is basically a game that involves playing with an identical pair of dice. Most online casino sites will have free online casino craps. It is an interesting and addictive game to play. The concept of winning any game involving dice is usually based on the dice combinations, as this game is. The game of free online casino craps is about these combinations and how often they appear during the dice rolls . In any online casino the game of free online casino craps is basically betting on the odds of the other numbers against a seven, which appears more frequently than the other numbers on a dice. The player or the person rolling the dice in a free online casino craps game is called a “shooter”.

Free Online Casino Craps – Strategy and Tips

In a game of free online casino craps, there is basically a pair of dice, which will give an overall of 36 possible combinations. The number combination seven will appear most frequently, six times. Online casino craps is based on the comparison of the other numbers against the number seven. In an online casino during a game of free online casino craps, when the shooter rolls the dice, there are three types of rolls he can play- a “point”, a “natural” or “craps”. In the free online casino craps game glossary, A “point” roll consists of the numbers 4,5,6,8,9 and 10; a “natural” roll consists of the numbers 7 or 11 and “craps” roll consists of the numbers 2,3 and 12.in an online casino, is a shooter rolls a “natural”, then all those who had bet on that line, win. If, in a free online casino craps game, a “ craps” is rolled then the bettors lose. If a natural is rolled, then the shooter has to roll the dice and repeat the number again before a seven is rolled, in order for it to be a win.

Free Online Casino Craps – How To Win

Any or most online casino games are based on luck,  skill and knowledge of the game rules and strategy. In order to win a free online casino craps game, one has to be knowledgeable about comps (choice.odds, money, play and save), rhythm rolling (rolling the dice in a particular manner and spot), attitude, playing and savings. But the best way to win, even if you are familiar with the free online casino craps game rules and strategy is to watch, learn and then play.

Blackjack Online | Why You Should Play Blackjack Online

Posted on 25 June 2009 by Steve

There are many reasons why playing blackjack online has become so popular in recent years. Firstly, consider the enjoyment and the thrill many people experience when they play and win card games. Not only do you get to improve your skills, you can also watch your bank balance increase when you find yourself on a winning streak.

Playing blackjack online offers players more favourable odds and extra benefits not usually found in live casinos. The sign up match deposit bonus is an advantage that only internet blackjack fans enjoy. When you sign up to become a new member at an online casino, you will usually be entitled to a match deposit bonus that is payable on the first deposit you make.

Some casinos offer huge bonuses from 100 to 200 percent on player deposits. Others offer multiple bonuses and special cash-backs when players use a preferred payment method to deposit cash into their casino account. These bonus offers result in far more blackjack for your dollar than when you play at live casinos.

Along with first time deposits, many blackjack sites reward their regular customers with special promotional offers and the ability to win generous prizes in blackjack tournaments. Some lucky players win holidays and luxury vehicles simply by performing well in regular blackjack events. Others accumulate VIP points or loyalty points which can be redeemed for casino cash, real money and entry into competitions, sweepstakes and tournaments.

New players that want to play blackjack are often more comfortable learning the game at online casinos. Land-based casinos can seem intimidating to those who prefer the anonymous, relaxed pace of learning online. Many people also prefer to learn blackjack strategy online and trial out new strategies playing free backgammon games before they risk their money on pay to play versions.

For the socially minded, you will meet a far more diverse group of people playing blackjack online than you will at your local casino. Internet blackjack players come from all over the world and fall into a wide range of ages and occupations.

If you’ve read the above advantages associated with playing blackjack online and you’re still not convinced, why not try a game for yourself? At www.helpmebet.com you’ll find several exciting blackjack variations to trial and will be able to benefit from a generous bonus offer and ongoing promotions and prizes.

Poker Odds | Texas Hold’em Probability

Posted on 23 June 2009 by Steve

Poker odds are figures that tell you how likely it is that you will make a certain hand. In Texas Hold’em probability is important, because you can use the poker odds to decide whether calling a particular bet will give you value for money.

For example; if you have four cards of the same suit after the flop and you need one more for a flush, the poker odds of you hitting a card of the required suit on the turn are 4.2 to 1. Hold’em probability therefore suggests that if the pot will pay you more than those odds merit, you should stay in the game. If the pot is lower than the poker odds suggest is appropriate, folding might be the most sensible option.

PKR Review | The world’s most advanced poker room

Posted on 21 June 2009 by Steve

PKR is the leading 3D online poker site, offering amazing graphics, a large player base and innovative play. The software and overall playing experience is nothing short of incredible, offering fully customizable 3D avatars, unique camera views and special features that players can “teach” their characters. The software is privately developed by PKR themselfs, and is not part of any poker network.

Software Summary

PKR runs on privately developed software and is not a part of any poker network. The software offers breathtaking graphics and customizability, giving the player an experience that is as close to real casino play as possible.

The software comes, for obvious reasons, as a download client only, and only works on the PC platform. Modem users shouldn’t bother downloading it though, since it takes up over 600 MB on the hard drive.

The playing experience is awesome, and all the usual functions are there, except for the annoying fact that pre-flop view percentage is missing from the lobby.

The software allows for play at up to four tables simultaneously and offers a great mini-view function where three tables can be viewed together with the main table, all in the same window. In all, the software is power consuming, slow, and space consuming – and just amazing!

Statistics

The data and statistics functions in the PKR software allow you to classify your opposition during play, and the lobby supplies vital table statistics like viewed-flop percentage, average pot size and hands played per hour.

The hand history functions for PKR are good, with the option to both look at your private hand history in the software and go through hands played in a session right at the table.

Multi-Table

The latest version of the PKR software supports play at four tables simultaneously, and multi-table play usually runs effortlessly, although a little slow.

PKR is decently suited for multi-table play, with somewhat slow software but a great mini-view function that allows for three small and one large active table to be viewed at the same time.

The tables are resizable to full screen and all graphics and sound functions are customizable for the best individual experience.

Graphics

The graphics of the PKR software are totally amazing, and most users are blown away the first time they play. Graphics-wise, there is nothing on the market that even comes close to PKR, with amazing customization and superb 3D effects making the software simply the best out there.

The table functions are easy to learn and well-oriented, and the cards are big and easy to see. Players can also view the table from any position. Tables and software can be made to fit full screen for larger text, and the graphics, sounds and functions can all be customized.

Special Features

The PKR software offers the basic features players expect and a large number of inventive ones. Players can “peek” at their hole cards just like in live play; avatars have unique mannerisms; players can win bracelets for their avatar; and the graphics are, all-around, completely amazing.

There is also a very good hand history for any session right at the table and a great mini-view feature for multi-table play.
